MP Iqra Khalid joined students at the University of Toronto Mississauga for a Youth in Politics event hosted by the UTM Young Liberals club. The event brought together students, community leaders, and elected officials for a discussion on leadership, public service, and the role of youth in shaping Canada’s future.
MP Khalid was joined by MP Fares Al Soud, MP Amandeep Sodhi, and LPCO President Qasir Dar.
Throughout the discussion, students shared their perspectives on navigating leadership in an increasingly complex and rapidly changing world. Conversations focused on the importance of civic engagement, resilience, and encouraging young people to step outside their comfort zones to grow into future leaders.
“Young people are not just the future of our country, they are already shaping it today,” said MP Khalid. “Their ideas, energy, and willingness to challenge themselves will define the kind of Canada we build together.”
MP Khalid also spoke about the importance of embracing uncertainty and using challenges as opportunities for personal and professional growth.
“Leadership often begins the moment we step beyond what feels comfortable,” she added. “It was incredibly inspiring to hear from students who are passionate about public service and committed to making a difference in their communities.”
The event highlighted the growing interest among young Canadians in political participation and public service, while creating space for meaningful conversations between students and elected representatives.
MP Khalid thanked the UTM Young Liberals for organizing the event and expressed optimism about the next generation of leaders emerging across Mississauga and Canada.
